Incident Statistics
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, APC received approximately 700 reports of overheating and melting surge protectors and 55 reports of property damage related to smoke and fire.
The reported incidents included approximately $916,000 in residential fire damage and approximately $750,000 in damage to a medical facility.
Thirteen injuries were reported, including smoke inhalation and contact burns.
