Physical Description

The VG307 utilizes a long, low-profile beige plastic enclosure with rounded end caps and seven grounded outlets arranged in a single row.

A large red rocker-style power switch is positioned near the power-cord entry point. The switch operates perpendicular to the row of outlets. Although the switch resembles an illuminated rocker switch commonly found on surge protectors of the period, no illumination was observed on the documented example.

A resettable push-button circuit breaker is located adjacent to the power-cord entry point.

The attached power cord measures approximately 4 feet (1.2 m) in length and utilizes an SJT-rated jacket with three 16 AWG conductors. Cord markings indicate a 75°C temperature rating and identify the cord manufacturer as Rhythm.

The VG307 utilizes a grounded three-prong molded attachment plug permanently affixed to the power cord.

Teardown

A single epoxy-encapsulated surge-suppression assembly is mounted near the cord-entry point. The location and wiring of the assembly indicate that it provides the surge-suppression functionality associated with the VG307's "Gemini Surge" branding and 500-volt suppression specification.

The resettable overcurrent-protection device is a ROTECH Model R-100 push-button circuit breaker rated for 15A at 120VAC.
