'''APC SurgeArrest Personal''' was a family of consumer surge protectors marketed by [[APC]] (American Power Conversion) during the 1990s and 2000s.

Positioned below the SurgeArrest Professional series, the Personal product line targeted home users seeking protection for computers, peripherals, modems, fax machines, and other household electronics. Models commonly incorporated multiple grounded outlets together with AC power-line surge protection and, on selected models, telephone-line protection.

The OldSurge Archive currently documents the seven-outlet PER7T model, a telephone-protection variant manufactured in 1998.

== Product Positioning ==

During the late 1990s APC marketed multiple SurgeArrest product families simultaneously. The SurgeArrest Professional series emphasized higher-end protection, while the SurgeArrest Personal series provided surge suppression for home and small-office environments at a lower price point.

Archived APC marketing materials from November 1999 identify the Personal series as part of APC's broader SurgeArrest product lineup alongside Professional, Notebook, Residential, Rackmount, and related protection products.

== Model Designations ==

Available evidence suggests that model designations within the Personal series used suffixes to indicate included protection features.

Examples include:

* PER7 - Seven-outlet SurgeArrest Personal
* PER7T - Seven-outlet SurgeArrest Personal with telephone-line protection

Additional models likely existed but have not yet been documented by the archive.

== Recall Information ==

Certain APC SurgeArrest products were included in APC's 2013 SurgeArrest recall program.

Archived documentation accompanying the archive's documented PER7T specimen indicates that the unit was submitted to APC under the recall program in June 2021 and replaced with a new-in-box APC SurgeArrest product manufactured in 2021.

Additional research is required to determine whether all Personal-series models were covered under the recall program or only specific production ranges.

== Recall Significance ==

The Personal series is historically significant because several models were included in APC's 2013 SurgeArrest recall affecting approximately 15 million APC 7-Series and 8-Series surge protectors manufactured between 1993 and 2002.

Affected Personal-series models included the PER7 and PER7T. The archive's documented PER7T specimen was manufactured in 1998 and falls within the affected production range.

== Archive Observations ==

The Personal series appears to have occupied a distinct position within APC's surge-protector lineup. Whereas documented Professional-series products emphasize long production runs and extensive internal design evolution, the Personal series was marketed as a consumer-oriented alternative intended for home and small-office use.

Documentation of additional examples will help establish model relationships, feature differences, construction methods, and the long-term evolution of the product family.
